The Times – 17th April 2017

Dozens of child psychologists and psychiatrists (including The Shaw Mind Foundation’s co-founder Dr Lauren Callaghan), have urged schools to educate children about their mental health in the hope of reducing the number of youngsters suffering with problems. In a letter to The Times, the specialists said that schooling focused on physical and academic education but neglected mental wellbeing. Read more.

Times Education Supplement – 4th April 2017

The majority of parents want to see children given mental health education in schools, a new survey finds. Children should be taught more about mental health issues in schools, according to a poll of UK parents. Almost half – 45 per cent – of parents surveyed said that schools were failing to look after the mental health of children. The majority believe that children should learn more about mental health in the classroom. Read more.
